Author and expert Ferdinand Fournies says this about training:

Experience gives people more alternatives good and bad. Training gives people more effective alternatives with out requiring them to grow older.

And isn’t it true. While age and experience bring a certain amount of knowledge, training can enhance and “speed up” a person’s ability to make wise choices, develop an advanced skill set, and/or be more mature interpersonally.

Of course, the content and design of training experiences influences how well we can accomplish such learning. So, let us be sure to remember the potential in investing in training for our people – and be sure to provide such training in the most engaging manner.
